Comments Thread For: Nonito Donaire: "I Also Have Monstrous Power" For Inoue

Nonito Doniare is not lacking confidence-or power, he says-heading into his fight against Naoya Inoue. The soon-to-be 37-year-old Filipino fighter believes since he's no longer competing at 126 pounds and is now at a more ideal 118, he's performing at peak levels because he's fighting guys his size.

I like Nonito but Inoue is taking over. He is an exciting fighter and I am looking forward to him coming to the US

We remember your two Ring-****zine awards for KOTY Nonito, vs. Darchinyan, Montiel and again in 2019 the power was on display against the late replacement of the WBSS Stephon Young.

The 'Filipino Flash' left-hook has bone crushing power at 118! I don't recall when the top five P4P Naoya Inoue has ever been badly rocked, if there is a man that can put the 'Monster' on unsteady legs and out, its the dangerous puncher Nonito Donaire.

Naoya don't come to run, he will give Nonito plenty of opportunity to feel that sleeper.

It's interesting to note the last guy to take Inoue the distance was David Carmona. While the monster has power and good with timing I have to see more before he's deemed as a threat to anyone in the bantamweight division

Nonito has faced big punchers before, Walters, Darchinyan, Rigo.

Same can't be said for Inoue, who's never faced anyone close to Nonito's power.

I like this fight as long as Donaire isn’t overly cautious. His best chance is really to let his hands go and show a Inoue early that there’s 2 big punchers there. He might get stopped in the process but I think If he fights too cautious then he will get slaughtered anyway.

People don't usually go to sleep with a cheek shot but that smack was just so hard.

Time to see if Inoue can take as good as he gives.

Nonito is much older then in those clips people are posting, he's not that prime animal anymore.

From the training sessions I have seen from him preparing for the fight. He's going to be looking for 1 shot the whole time. Wasn't training in combinations at all from what I did see. He's looking like the typical big puncher who is over the hill that only throws 1 big shot at a time.

At least from his training for the fight, it looks like that.

Naoya on the other hand is training like a young guy in his prime. Throws combinations, using his feet. Looking lively. The only negative is that he's not really keeping his hands up in training. So, I don't know if that will carry over into the boxing ring. If he takes Nonito lightly as if he can just bob and weave with his hands down. He could very well get caught and stopped.

But certainly of the two. Naoya looks more lively. Nonito not so much but he's still a dangerous cat.

Donairre is 37 years old. That's ancient for a fighter in that weight category. Lasting the distance with Inoue will be like a victory for him at this point.
