Would you take a dive for 12 million dollars?

Let’s say you grew up dirt poor, fought hard for pennies in boxing the last 20 years of your life. Now you’re getting old, have a wife and son, and also have multiple court cases pending. And you also already have multiple losses.

Then someone comes and offers you far more money than you’ve ever made in your whole life, enough to secure your future and your children’s future forever, which is what you’ve been fighting for. And you and your kids and grandkids never have to fight or work again after that. But, you must go a bit easy in the fight.

    Would you do it?

DAZN had every reason to fix this fight. They NEEDED Canelo to win.

WTF was DAZN going to do with: Kovalev wins, goes to trial November 25th, facing 4 years for felony assault, a trial by jury mind you. What if he gets a year? Puts him out until 2021 and hes now 39 years old, meanwhile Canelo their cash cow with a $360 million contract just took a loss. They cant even do a rematch because Kov is in jail.

You realize its a light years better deal for everyone if Kov loses this fight? Even if Kov won, he couldnt capitalize on it. Kov could take a higher payday for a dive.

You ask any aging bum, journeyman or fringe contender and most of them will take the deal. It would be foolish not to.

If im a struggling journeyman with mouths to feed, um yea, ill take the 12 mill.

Sure, but I wouldn’t wait until the 11th round. Dives happen in early to mid-rounds. Kovalev was legit KO’d.
