How much did Kovalev get on the side to go soft

They obviously instructed him to throw soft jabs only with no power shots allowed.

What kind of deal was it that Kov couldnt refuse?

That was fu#kin weird I will admit. Kovalev going super soft. Even the guys I was with who don’t watch a lot of boxing were saying he’s throwing too soft.

Kovalev has multiple court cases coming up that would cost a lot of millions if he loses or it is drawn out. Probably 12 million+ court cases settled by DAZN.

He was just shot and cashed out.

I don't think he went soft. He was already on the heavy decline so he didn't really have to do any acting.

Couldn’t have said it better myself although I do think at this stage , not having time to regain from the Yarde fight was the nail in the coffin also

He took this fight short notice, he fought like 9 weeks ago.

Hes got an assault trial that starts on 25 November, so this farce was rushed.

Kov cashed out and intentionally threw no hard shots. His base purse was only $3 million but plus incentives. They were saying he was expected to get closer to $12 million when all said and done. How do you have such a huge variance when its not a PPV fight? no details on how the incentives calculated..... paid off to throw the fight.

That's just who Kovalev is now at this stage of his career. The Kovalev who beat Jean Pascal and had those fights with Andre Ward is no more.

Correct. But the Kovalev of last night could do a lot more than soft jabbing. Power is the last thing to leave a fighter. Kovalev is one of the hardest punchers @ LHW. Canelo didn't even have to taste it once in 10+rounds. He didn't even have to dodge or block any, because they were never gonna come. The mighty dollar took care of that.

                    No fix for me.

Kovalev threw soft shots because he didn't want Canelo to go after him and hurt him.

So Canelo didn't go after him to hurt him...

                    Oh wait...

                    Something went wrong somewhere...

Isn't that how boxing is supposed to go ?...
