Add me to the list of fans not looking forward to a trilogy fight. Primarily because since GGG got close to a fight against Alvarez the first time, he has refused to fight anyone of substance. I don't quite understand how anyone can get behind a fighter who purposely avoids the other top guys (Jacobs rematch, Charlo, Andrade, Dervy). It's almost as if he says, I'll only risk losing if its for a lot of money.

And not just this but GGG fans screaming he's old he needs the fight now yet GGG aged himself out by running into hiding for almost a full year after losing to canelo then when he did come back he faced a bum in Rolls which does nothing to build interest in another Canelo fight or his legacy. That's not Canelo's fault he is wasting his career away and fighting Rolls shouldn't stamp you for yet another fight with Canelo. What now he is just entitled to a lifetime of rematches while he refuses to fight anyone else in between those fights? He should of fought Andrade or Charlo at his age he shouldn't be wasting time and fights fighting guys like Rolls let alone be rewarded for that garbage. There are other fighters that deserve that Canelo shot then him.

Marquez had to wait 4 years after a draw with Pacquiao to get another crack. In that time he fought Orlando Salido, Chris John, Marco Antonio Barrera, Rocky Juarez. Then got the rematch. After losing a close split decision in the rematch he had to wait 3 years for a 3rd Pacquiao fight. In that that time he fought Casamayor, Juan Diaz and Floyd Mayweather. You see where I'm going with this. Meanwhile GGG thinks it's his birth right to keep getting more chances at Canelo while fighting guys like Rolls and Vanes in between. If he don't want to step it up and earn that fight then he can sit and wait in line he already came up short TWICE and got his face broken beaten at his own game after he ran from Mexican Style fight he begged for in the last fight. He will get beat up even worse and there will just be more excuses when he loses again. Let's be real at this point all he wants is a paycheck. If he cared about legacy or his fans he wouldn't of took a year off and then wasted time fighting Rolls.

I dont understand this line of thinking. He beat Jacobs and Jacobs just got annihilated by Canelo, Charlo doesn't even have a belt, Andrade doesn't even hold a candle to Jacobs in terms of skill, and Dervy got brought to school by Jacobs. These people are small potatoes compared to Canelo who is the best in the division and top p4p. If you can make millions fighting Canelo with the chance to avenge your only loss why not do that?

Let's continue by acknowledging that revisionist history doesn't apply. He passed on Dervy before Dervy Jacobs. Further, triangle theories don't work in boxing. So a fighter losing to one fighter doesn't mean he loses to every fighter that's defeated the fighter he lost two. Case in point, Ruiz beat Joshua, who beat Parker after Ruiz lost to Parker.

Lastly, don't use not having a belt as a reason not to fight Charlo, but then dismiss the belt when considering Andrade. It just seems like you're making up the logic as you go to support a fighter not taking on a challenging fight.

From the responses, it appears that some are fans of GGG's purses/wallet moreso than fans of the sport. This guy was made out to be a generational fighter, yet he's only fought two top middleweights? Smh, yet they wanted Mayweather to fight him at 160.....

He gets paid lots of money regardless of who he fights. I think it was a right call to fight a low level opposition (as much as I don't like that as a fan). Fighting somebody like Jacobs, Andrade, Charlo you are risking an injury, which might shelf the third fight with Canelo completely or push it out by another year. So yeah...that was a smart business decision. And GGG was right to stop treating this as a sport only. Its not.

So essentially, as a fan, you'd rather see him protect his ability to get a Alvarez purse than see him prove that he's the generationally great fighter that his fans claimed him to be. He's only fought 2 legit middleweights mind you.

Golovkin has no say in where this fight happens.
Canelo should stick by what he said about Golovkin getting a title; unless he's a mandatory or holds that wbo title he hasn't done snythi g since getting beat to merit a shot, never mind say where the fight is going to be.
If canelo decides to give him a third fight then he should just say, "Vegas baby, take it or leave it . . ." I'd bet golovkin would still take it!
