Thurman knows boxing is a business.
Couple things I wanna say:
Hard to believe those potential financial figures yrs ago when several top PBC fighters (which Thurman is) have alluded to receiving higher figures than what's "advertised". I also remember Espinoza speaking in reference to Bud-DSG offer that you think DSG hasn't already made this in his career? Hard to believe DSG got paid better or higher for even 2 fights aside from the Thurman fight.
Interesting to see Thurman talk about popularity. I think Errol today is arguably the most popular welterweight in the new era next to DSG. You can make the case Thurman is the 4th most popular so if anybody needs to step their popularity up wouldnt it be him?
Errol has a skillset/career that can carry him up to 160lb. Errol has future big/bigger fights at higher weights. I believe Keith knows he's a career welterweight so his options are limited/different. He'd probably on go to 154lb with Porter or something. Keith also wants to maximize his payday as much as possible for the risk Errol represents, also the longer he waits the tougher it'll probably be on Errol to make 147.
Keith told Paulie "you better not duck me son" I wonder if Paulie was presented with a contract..
I bring it up regularly IRL that, SRL said he would fight Hearns when he's as popular as Roberto Duran. I always say that Ray Leonard woulda been crucified in this era for saying that.
Also I think Thurman isn't getting credit for how long he's been out. He been out for almost 2 years, it ain't like he been fighting a bunch of others guys tf lol. But I don’t agree with his word choice of waiting longer for the fight but I believe Spence-Thurman should happen 1st quarter or mid 2020 personally.
The reality is all your favorite fighters (except mine) would likely duck when a fighter represents a certain threat to them or if they know a fighter can beat them.
Also Is their any reason the comment box isn't at the bottom or Is that just me?
