Joe Joyce claims Abel turned him into a brawler, so he left him. List of top fighters who also left Abel because he ruined them. Kovalev, Cuadras, Chocolatito, Gassiev, Golovkin.
The only reason why Golovkin did well with him was b/c he was a honorary mexican, so he embraced the mexican style well. Golovkin clearly gave Abel a crap offer b/c he wanted to change trainer. Abel should be glad he had the privileged to ride Golovkin's gravy train.

Their game plan appeared to be that Golovkin should simply come forward relying on his chin. When that plan didn't appear to work so well Sanchez had nothing to offer.

Abel would have made a good WW1 general. Just keep sending more men into the meat grinder till some get through.

I got the same feedback from Carlos Cuadras . He was in camp with Abel for one fight then left him .
He said Abels workouts would mainly consist of weight training for power. Cuadras being a boxer who relies and hand and foot speed didn't see it as a proper fit .

Yeah exactly that. Thats why sanchez came out with that quote saying canelo won, because in his eyes because golovkon didnt walk forward with his chin in the air and actually boxed, sanchez saw that as a loss

I think he is overrated as a trainer. GGG was already excellent when he started training him. He was a great amateur with hundreds of amateur fights just like Loma so he knew how to fight. If he thought Abel was that helpful he would have kept him. He thinks he can do better. Joyce left him quickly.

His major issue seems to be that he was based on a different continent to be fair.

Sanchez is limited as a trainer, but he is still pretty good, especially for a guy like Joyce.

Was always overrated as a Trainer! He always talk about how he "Trained Terry Norris" well...


Not blaming Abel for this because Terry Father was originally his trainer BUT the style in which Abel trains fighters for is DANGEROUS! It is just come forward and throw power punches with not much regard for Defense
