Comments Thread For: Brant-Murata Rematch Expected To Be Announced Next Week

Ryota Murata won his first major title by avenging the lone loss of his career. He hopes to find the same type of magic in his quest to regain that very strap. The 2012 Olympic Gold medalist from Japan will return to his home country for a planned rematch with his recent conqueror, Minnesota's Rob Brant. Their middleweight title fight sequel will take place on either July 12 or July 13 in Osaka, Japan, with ESPN+ to stream the event live.

Murata on a suicide mission Banzai style.

I look forward to Brant finishing him off this time.

Murata can avenge being robbed in the first fight.

I'm being sarcastic - what do we expect to be different in a second fight ?

who is running Murata's career? He didn't just lose he was flat out dominated. What is a few months going to change? You giving this kid another bad L on his record. He should of just moved on, given himself more time to improve and fight other fighters that are a better style matchup for him. This is a pointless rematch. You can sell being dominated and getting a rematch years and years later by saying I'm a different fighter. But a direct rematch after being white washed? A direct rematch should be for a close or controversial fight and that's it.
