Late Picks & Thoughts on Wilder vs Fury

Fury by late stoppage. If he gets into a rhythm, he is hard to deter and land on and although he isn't a big one punch knockout artist, he does dish out sustained punishment when he's in a rhythm, which is why tough guys like Chisora had be pulled out.

I actually think Fury might smother Wilder for large parts of the fight on purpose. He has a big weight advantage, he works well up close for his size and it nullify's Wilder's ability to get leverage. And when he's on the outside, i see him going southpaw and making Wilder fall short and countering him.

Fury isn't quite as feather fisted as people make out. He isn't Malignaggi. He still has enough power to get respect and stop a fighter if he nails them right after enough punishment and fatigue. I see him trying to wear Wilder down for the first half of the fight by smothering and leaning and then let Wilder get more sloppy and then Fury starts with the counters and getting into his rhythm.

To be honest though, there is some inevitability in Wilder flattening him and Fury being nowhere near what he was but that's the boring answer. We all know why Wilder was happy to make the fight right now.

I have been very vocal about this fight, I am very confident that Fury prevails, and makes it look easy, perhaps enduring a flash knockdown in the process.

The allegations that drugs ruin one has been addressed on this thread, it is ridiculous. besides, Fury always had exceptional wind and even at 75% would have the endurance to work 12 rounds imo. Lets remember that against Vlad Fury was hardly winded.

But as RExy said....so many times we are suprised and we get two sluggers who decide to play chess, lol. Nothing would suprise me except Wilder knocking out Fury easily.

With big fights like this, everyone seems to have a first opinion that gets mired in doubt throughout the build up. Then the fight goes down just like they originally thought and we're back to, "oh yea, it was obvious this would happen."

I still think Fury is a shadow of what he once was. The guy who beat Klitschko landed almost nothing, against a guy who was unwilling to throw. This isn't that situation. I expect Fury to duck and dance, and eventually get caught hard.

I give Fury a strong chance if he shocks Wilder by fighting aggressively. Deontay is easy to catch, and if Fury really applied himself me may be able to crack him first. Nobody expects him to do that, which is why it could work.

Wilder by KO. His speed and athleticism will be the key. If I were in Fury's corner I would advise him to use his weight advantage and fight Wilder on the inside and make it as ugly as possible. If he stays on the outside and fights at a distance he won't last very long.

I agree. Wilder by TKO. Going for late in the 7th just as Fury is starting to gas. I think he will surrender a lot of the ring to Wilder, get backed up and Wilder will unleash and the ref will stop it after maybe 1 big swing rocks Fury.

Probably with a little controversy around it so that if there is a rematch, they can sell it like Tyson Fury's bitter pill or is that me being a little cynical?

... Yes... That's why I wrote "(T)KO"... (it may be a "British-style stoppage" as well... There is only one problem in this fight: Wilder looks very slim -- I don't know what would happen in case Fury chooses to try to wear him down with his weight, tbh...)
