Comments Thread For: Jorge Linares: I'm More Than Capable at Taking Over at 140

After losing by knockout in his last fight to Vasiliy Lomachenko, Jorge Linares has decided to move up in weight for his next fight. The former WBA lightweight titleholder will face fringe contender Abner Cotto on Sept. 29, Golden Boy Promotions announced Wednesday afternoon. The 10 round junior welterweight bout will take place at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California. The fight will stream live on Facebook Watch in the U.S. and globally on the Golden Boy Fight Night Page.

Great fight for Jorge Linares. He'll win by TKO and then move to Jose Ramirez or any other title holder not named Prograis.

And yes...I saw what Lomachenko did at 135 but he's an anomaly. Nobody at 140 has ever fought anyone as good as Linares.

Hmmm, after thinking about it, Linares is crazy enough to fight Progris. If he does fight Regis I hope it's for a wall of cash, he deserves it.

He has the frame for it, no doubt.

I don't see why Jorge wouldn't be able to take over 140 most of those guys with belts are unproven for the most part and Regis doesn't have any freaking defense at all so he won't last long and neither does Ramirez so I think this is a good move. Besides tank, Loma, Easter and maybe Mikey are at 35 so good move.

Best move for Linares 140lbs is wide open & he can compete with anyone in the weight class.
That said tho... He will feel the 140lbs difference real quick, will his chin & skin hold up??

I think he could. Linares vs the winner of Ramirez vs Orozco would be a great fight.

Lol at these post about Linares being competitive at this weight. He has little to no chance competing at the top of this division.

The reality is he's never been that good. His reign was nothing more than careful matchmaking. Hooker is the only "top" 140 guy he could deal with and that's not saying much of anything.

Linares would dominate Ramirez... I’m annoyed at how he hasn’t demanded a rematch with Lomachenko

too bad it's too late for Linares to be a surprise entrant in the WBSS 140lb tournament.
