Comments Thread For: Ricky Burns Returns, Stops Croatian Foe In 50th Fight

Ricky Burns reached the half-century in the paid ranks with a triumph. The Coatbridge man, a former three-weight global ruler, was in action for the first time since last October's defeat to Anthony Crolla. Burns, now 35, got the ring rust off with a win over Ivan Njegac by retirement after the Croatian was pulled out by his corner at the start of round number five at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle.

He is fooling himself with his words.. he needs to retire as he will never beat the elite or be a champion again... his time has passed, he needs to recognize this..

A very good fight. Both have got a silmilar style: high guard with zero upper body movement. I wouldn't be surprised if that's announced.

He won paper belts but never beat an elite fighter. But you’re right, his time is past. He probably can’t win a belt even if it’s a set-up like his jr. WW belt
