Apparently Canelo did a hair test with the NSAC, but the NSAC's testing measures are so bad and outdated that that is the whole reason USADA and VADA got pulled into boxing in the first place to, supposedly, provide actual, meaningful testing. Whether they actually do that without playing favorites is a whole different discussion for another day, but what it proves is that everyone in boxing has known for years that the NSAC's tests are extremely easy to beat. Now you know why Canelo chose them to do the hair test!
Additionally, we don't know what substances Canelo's hair was tested for, not that it matters because, again, the NSAC's testing procedures are notoriously useless so even if they technically tested Canelo for every PED in the book, they likely wouldn't find any even if he was using every PED in the book.
We also don't know the timeframe of when the hair test was collected, and why it took so long for the results to come out.
To make matters worse, the NSAC is alleged to have covered up positive tests for star fighters in the past, so even if Canelo gave a hair sample at a legitimate time, which we don't know, and even if it was really Canelo's hair, which with the NSAC is also a huge question IMO, and even if the NSAC's testing procedures were good enough to catch what was in Canelo's hair, which is doubtful, and even if the NSAC actually tried to catch Canelo despite it being in their economic interest to exonerate him, rather than work with him behind the scenes to make sure he passed the test, even if it all that were the case, which the probability is in my opinion next to zero percent, then we still couldn't trust the results that they reported.
TL;DR: Canelo's hair test was a PR stunt. In my opinion it's obvious he's been using a wide array of PEDs, and the clenbuterol positive test was only confirmation of the obvious if you look at his physical transformation. To top it off, he has STILL failed to enroll in ENHANCED 365 VADA testing like Povetkin and Ortiz did after their positive tests, which means in my opinion Canelo is likely cycling PEDS again right now, and if he is, none of us would have any way to prove it.
