I agree. Canelo has looked winded before and takes rounds off (Trout fight for example, although I thought Canelo clearly won every round he didn't take off), while GGG won't let him take them off.

Yeah, he's just being a petulant child. Canelo *****ed out, and waited a couple more fights to hope GGG got old. GGG is well past prime age for fighters, but has still looked solid.

Well: this one here what is it??? A "unification fight" or one of "all other IBF bouts"?

This truly is a tough fight to say exactly what is going to happen.

Many different things and outcomes can happen.

I believe either guy can win and has a good shot. It's those intangibles and questions that are going to be answered that we don't really know about going into the fight.

I can see scenarios where Canelo cuts Triple G's face up and the fight getting stopped on cuts with Canelo up on the cards.

I can see Canelo focusing on Triple G's body to try to wear him down that way. The problem is Triple G is going to be throwing fire too. So while I think Canelo will get some shots to the body in, I don't think it will be enough to completely wear down Triple G because Canelo is not going to constantly stay there in front of him to take those shots from Triple G. And Triple G will be hitting Canelo to the body as well.

The only way I see a Canelo win by knockout is if it's due to cuts on Triple G's face or something of that nature. A win for Canelo is more likely by decision.

I can see Triple G eventually wearing Canelo out and getting a TKO win in the late rounds.

For Triple G to win by decision it is going to have to be quite clear and obvious that he won. By having a knockdown or knockdowns, staggering Canelo "OR" really dominate at least 9 rounds or more.

The deck is stacked against Triple G when it comes to winning by a decision as we've seen in the past with Canelo scorecards against Trout, Mayweather, Lara and Cotto. Not saying the right guy didn't win, just saying scorecards were ridiculous for those fights.

Which may lead to another scenario where a lot of people may say that Triple G won but was robbed on the scorecards creating controversy and setting up a rematch.

Or we may get where Canelo in the views of many did win and deserved the decision.

Hopefully we can also get where Triple G seems like the winner after 12 by many and gets the decision if indeed he earned it and won in the eyes of many. This kind of thing seldom happens though.

It's because of these many scenarios, intangibles and questions that it is hard for me to predict an outcome on this fight.

How will Canelo fare against his first real Middleweight and that being the best Middleweight? How will Triple G deal with Canelo's hand speed and how much more power will Canelo have at Middleweight? Does Triple G have a chance to win a decision at all? Can Triple G deal with Canelo's skillset? Can Canelo last 12 rounds against Triple G and if he does, which is definitely a possibility in my opinion will the judges be fair, does Triple G have any chance at all winning a close decision if it looks like he was the clear winner in a close fight, they may even score a draw if it looks like Triple G won a lot of rounds. Hopefully it will not be a controversial ending and the right man wins and in the eyes of the fans, people, judges it is the rightful winner whether that be by decision or knockout.

My prediction is I have no prediction. This is a tough fight to call to say exactly what is going to happen.

Let's just hope for the best and may the best man win!
Good post. Long - and don't normally like to quote them (just because of length), but it sums up where most unbiased people are at.

My main thoughts (just to add) are:

            1) How is Canelo going to get past the jab ? He's going to need to, and he hasn't been the best with jabbers in the past (Mayweather, Trout, Lara).

            2) Judges. Who are they ? (do we know yet ?). I can bet Golovkin would want Jerry Roth (gave it to Lara 115-113) and Adalaide Byrd (had Khan up), but for same reasons, can see Canelo side rejecting them.
            - biggest risk for me is that we get a good fight that lives up to expectations, then one of two judges have a +3 for Canelo that is hard to justify (as we have often seen in Canelo fights) and it ruins the night. As long as the scores reflect the general opinion as 'correct', ie maybe tally with where most boxing writers think the fight went, that will be a W for boxing and don't really care who wins, as long as justified (but maybe hope Golovkin wins more just so we don't get Canelo/Cotto II)

Just to add, the cut factor is indeed an intriguing one.

Not much mentioned, probably as neither has a tendency to cut, and their styles don't make head clashes a likely issue (like Gonzalez/Rungvisai). But in this fight they are both likely to be catching quite a few solid punches, and a cut would indeed make it interesting if it gets in the eyes and affects vision. Hope it doesn't happen though.

That is the question. Since their is a unified champion with two other belts. Is that looked at as a unification fight as well?

It's confusing. I'm not 100% sure if it applies or not. I guess we'll find out soon.

Golovkin tko 10. Just got a feeling. Canelo will have his moments but won't be able to put a dent in GGG.
He couldn't hurt Cotto or Chavez Junior so he won't hurt Golovkin. No way. Golovkin will wear him down with solid jabs and right crosses.

Lol, yeah I usually don't post a long post like that. In this case it was necessary to explain the honest views and opinions. Thanks

I'm honest and realistic more than anything else and always try to be. Even if I'm rooting for someone or have any favorites, I'm a realist. Lol, it doesn't make sense to be a delusional fan boy.

Yeah as far as possible cuts, which like you I hope doesn't happen, it's just a scenario with Canelo's hand speed that crossed my mind with a glove grazing an eye or something. But I hope that doesn't happen.

You're right about the jab, Cotto's jab gave Canelo trouble too.

The judges, man, all I can hope for is that they are fair in whoever is selected. That's all I can do really, is hope that they are fair and honest.

Check out this video that has a technical summary and break down of the fight, the first thing they mention is indeed the jab and they show examples of it during the Cotto fight. It's a pretty good breakdown of the fight and both fighters. It adds to our breakdown:
