Mang, I still remember when Tyson got knocked out by Douglas. It was all over the paper - front page and shyt... when boxing was huge.

Minor interest, Tyson/Holyfield in 97. real interest? 1999 ish. Barrera/Morales, Hamed, Oscar/Vargas, Mosley Tito. I remember being really interested in Rahman/Lewis. Hardcore interest? 2002 I watched a little Filipino guy upset Barrera who was a favorite of mine. I vividly remember catching Mayweather/Sosa, then soon after I watched Toney upset Jirov and I never turned back.

            I'm 29 btw.

From 1966 onward, I recall seeing Ali's face on TV in relation to the draft and the war in Vietnam, and his conversion to Islam. As a sport, my interest crystallized with Ali-Frazier I. It was a COLOSSAL event, even in the prairies, as it offered a limited window into the issues confronting American society at the time.

Tyson vs. Holyfield was probably the most excited and amazed I ever remember being watching a fight. To see a 25-1 underdog put on a performance like that is something that never leaves. It was a religious experience.

Trinidad vs. Vargas was heartbreaking. I knew as I was watching it that I was seeing the destruction of one of the most promising careers the sport has ever seen.

Watching Hopkins dismantle Trinidad was like watching a live action boxing version of Mozart conducting at the Estates Theater in Prague. I should have watched it wearing a tuxedo with a fine red wine and some cheese or some ****. They should have it on a loop at the Smithsonian.

Gatti vs. Ward I was a ****ing movie. I still can't believe it was real.

Castillo vs. Corrales I was also a movie but with a different arc. I wish I had watched it somewhere in a public setting because the atmosphere it created was transcendental. Like New Years at the stroke of midnight in Times Square times 1,000. People have said since it is the greatest fight of all time. I feel lucky I saw it live.

Ah, I see you dislike Trinidad.

R ya Mexican by any chance? Lol

Watched Hector Camacho in his prime with my grandpa. My grandfather hated his antics but loved his fighting spirit. I became a fan through my grandpa. Got a lil older and we wished Raging Bull together in 1996 on TV. I was hooked. My grandpa died in 1997 and he always remarked that he never saw a fighter as tough as Jake LaMotta. Been a hardcore since

I remember Ray Mancini vs Kim Duk-Koo. I'm pretty sure I saw Duran a few times at lightweight but that was a long time ago. So it would be the late 70's.

Tito is one of my favorite fighters. He just happened to be part of two of the more significant bouts of a particular era. Chill, buddy.
