What Broner needs is combination punching, thats it really. He pot shots too much and is looking for that one big shot all night.

He throws punches well, pretty good defense --- he has a lot of wasted talent. I can't believe I'm saying so many positive things about a person I hate with such venom.
It's not really about whether you like/don't like him as a "person", is it? You make some good points about what he needs, what he does well. I just wonder if, perhaps, it is too late to make those changes?

        Maybe, maybe not. Probably not.

He's far from shot. He just has a terrible trainer. Broner should come out to California.

Like any profession, you can't neglect your trade for months on end, and then expect to be at your best twice per year. I suspect between fights he is not living well. Eating the wrong foods, drinking, smoking, and not hitting the gym often enough to stay sharp. You cannot be a world class boxer if you are only in the gym for two 8-week training camps each year.

Broner needs to make a serious commitment to this sport if he wants to remain relevant. I also think he needs a new team in his corner. New trainer, new atmosphere to train.

He's not shot. He's just relegated to Gavin Rees type opponents which make him look good. He'll be back and probably look good against shot Rios.

when did broner ever open up against guys around his size who could hit him back?

you're confusing shot with being hte fighter he always was. he wants a slow pace where he can pick spots to be flashy and counter. he doesn't want you to make him move around the ring.

mikey has great balance and he was big enough for his punches to reach broner, and hit hard enough for him to think twice about opening up.

if broner had opened up more he would have gotten knocked out or rocked. you have to understand that, it is clear as day. broner doesn't open up becaues he can't. he'll tire, lose that quarter of a second he needs to stay in the fight and see punches before they hit, and get beat up by a guy like garcia.

just accept that garcia is a much, much better boxer and move on. enough of these excuses.

IF AB just opened up doe.

Broner never could. You throw punches and his arms are locked. His hype worked for lower level competition.

Broner just isnt good, simple. He doesnt have any untapped potential and a new trainer wont help. He's just a name now, a stay busy fight for a payday

                      Exactly this!

I am just inclined to think that Broner has been ill-disciplined for so long now it is going to be a real difficult struggle for him to do the things he needs to do.
