For the record I don't like Andre Ward but the man is a master of the Dark Arts of boxing, while I think Kovalev is the better boxer, Ward is the better winner and he did whatever it took to win the second fight, had Kovalev retaliated in kind he either would have gotten Ward to back off or gotten DQ'd but it would have been better than him going out the way he did. This should be the ultimate lesson from the fight this weekend, don't count on the judges or the ref or even the commission, you have the best two judges in your hands win, lose or draw and even a DQ.

Kovalev showed too much respect it, that was his undoing.

I don't see how anyone can make a case that Kovalev is the better boxer, Ward is considerably more versatile

I'm ok with analogies that reference Ser Bronn of the Blackwater as Ward and Kovalev being whatever random Knight of the Vale. Kovalev is just another overhyped eastern euro who quit in the 8th round, Ward is consensus P4P #1 regardless of who wins Canelo-Golovkin.

Nah man
Enough with the talk. Ward won.
Big kovalev fan here, who was cheering for the win. He didn't get it, ward did, and he got it because he outfought Sergey and was the more composed fighter.
Yes it was close, but let's move on, it seriously ain't the end of world. Fighters win and fighters lose.

Kovalev's undoing was only having enough in the tank for 5 rounds and coming out needlessly pushing the pace from the opening bell. Sit back and box for a couple rounds...see how it unfolds. Instead he felt the need to back ward up and all cost, falling into clinches and counter shots.

That's what people said the first fight lol. He showed respect cause he can't just go in there like margarito and throw haymakers expecting to win. As you see ward can hurt him back just as much
