Fight was over in the 8th when Andre raked him with those two body shots and the dude folded like a chair staring at weeks pretending like they were low. Kovalev quit on the fight and his crusher persona.

I do believe that Ward was on his way to a likely stoppage win. If not the 8th round then probably the 9th or 10th. I think it would have been tough for Kovalev to survive all the way to the 12th and last. Imo he probably would have been stopped.
What I do have a problem with is the way the fight was stopped, it was a bad stoppage imo, premature.
I couldn't tell where a lot of those body blows were landing, most seem to have landed on the belt line. But there wasn't a clear view to really tell. But that last one right before the fight was stopped was clearly on the B of the Hublot advertisement on Kovalev's trunks. It was clear as day that one was definitely a low blow. So given that as well, the fight was stopped prematurely. It should have been allowed to continue and we as well as Ward should have been given the opportunity of an emphatic, clear, controversy free, debate free stoppage. But it didn't happen that way.Last edited by The Time; 06-19-2017, 12:35 AM.

There was nothing controversial about that fight. Ward won nice and square and beat the he'll out of Kovalev. Belt line is not a low blow so get used to that people.

Originally posted by The Ninth Layer View PostYes. My problem with the outcome is not that Ward won on stoppage but that the stopping blow and seemingly the two before it were fouls. Exactly, I'm just being objective and honest about it. And I know everyone has their opinions on the way the fight ended. But that's my point, it didn't have to end in a way where everyone has differing opinions on how the fight ended.
I clearly saw the last blow hit the letter B on Kovalev's Hublot advertisement on his trunks which was clearly low and then the fight gets stopped.
Was Ward on his way to a stoppage win or win period, I say yes. But with the way the fight was stopped all of a sudden, prematurely imo, it creates what we have now. A lot of differing opinions on how the fight ended instead of praise for an epic performance.
If Kovalev was going to get knocked out, then let him get knocked out. We should and Ward should be given the opportunity of a clear, emphatic win and knockout. Not stopping the fight when the last punch thrown was a low blow. Especially for a championship fight. I'm just being real and sincere about it.
