Comments Thread For: Judges Had Lomachenko-Walters Right Through 7 Rounds, But

LAS VEGAS The scorecards submitted Saturday night by all three judges reflected Vasyl Lomachenko's dominance against Nicholas Walters. Adalaide Byrd and Glenn Trowbridge had Lomachenko in front by the same score, 69-64, when Walters told referee Tony Weeks he didn't want to continue in what was becoming a completely lopsided fight it appeared Walters couldn't win. Burt Clements (70-63) scored each of the first seven rounds for Lomachenko, who is rapidly establishing himself as one of the best boxers, pound-for-pound, in the world.

The judge who scored the 6th round for Walters didn't judge the Ward/Kovalov fight. Those two scored ALL the rounds for Loma.

I didn't see Walters win a round but I guess it doesn't matter.

TR voiced their concern and Adalaide Byrd gave the 6th round to Walters I usually see this broad dead center behind the ring, tall as ****, looking like Dougie Fischer's long lost sister - I just don't get how off she can be.

I can maybe see her giving the 3rd (or maybe it was the 2nd) to Walters, Loma was still feeling out, Walters landed some body shots, he at least gave the impression of looking better than in previous rounds so I can see how someone might give him that round especially in comparison to other rounds, but the 6th?

Walter's did not win ...Byrd needs to go into retirement with her old man and live with CJ Ross...

The purpose of 3 judges is to cross check one another. Judges have off nights and may miss scoring in certain rounds but the idea is that the other 2 judges get it right. As long as at least 2 of the scorecards paint the picture of the fight that is taking place I am happy. And in this case, the scorecards reflect a dominant victory in favor of Lomachenko.
