Both possible of happening but so what If they do lose the very best fighters in history all have lost its the ones who haven't that have a lot of criticism towards them for not fighting the best.

Quite possible and not the end of the world.. Protecting the golden 0 is limited to a few fighters but taking on the best when fans demand it is the best way to answer your doubters.. Anyways they'll have rematches to prove that they can improve..

There is now way Loma will be allowed to loose, too much invested in him. He is a star, next big thing etc.
Though Kovalev may loose - Ward-winner might sell well due to demographics, "the beast from the east" will still be in the picture but he may be paid less after a loss

If they lose at least they challenged the best foe possible out there

What if Kovalev lost but it was close do you think his stock would fall?

Boxing would do very well with getting rid of that selling point, the 0 has to go sooner or later but it shouldn't make you more marketable in the world of boxing we should take a look at MMA
              Advertisement done properly
Fighters selling their name done properly (also some boxers do that well)
Continous competitive fights that could have something to do with the fact MMA is more in depth than boxing though way more to it than just throwing punches

Lomachenko's stock probably takes a bigger hit, this isn't MMA so a guy with a 6-2 record is likely to be dismissed as a top fighter especially by boxrecers.

Punchers can always get by even if their records aren't perfect, because you always feel like they can be outboxed but not outfought so you just have to match them smarter.... if Kovalev loses, potential fights with Beterbiev and Stevenson will still be clamoured for because neither guy will be looking to outbox him.

Edit: I know Kovalev is not just a puncher but if he loses to Ward then he'll be regarded as more of a puncher.

If Loma loses he loses, Walters is a beast. I will be disappointed though if Kovalev loses to this version of Ward, I don't want to see the Ward that has been showing up as of late on top, he's cancer to the sport until he returns to his old style, at least.

                    This sounds accurate, sir.
