Where these rumors being talked about at (besides this thread)? Been saying this for a few years & it won't surprise me if true (& HBO gets a deal with the UFC), but I haven't heard any rumors.

If it does turn out to be a reality then I think PBC becomes the go to for elite level boxing (arguably they already are with HBO's poor schedule thats really only showing good fights on PPV these days), but I suspect Showtime picks up some of these promotional relationships & I won't be surprised if Netflix or Hulu or one of these streaming service start f#cking around with live sports & boxing specifically too so I think HBO's demise (if it does get out of boxing) could lead to entirely new players in the boxing business.

Then pbc would go full blown ufc mode... If they're still around. Or sho/cbs would possibly go that route

100%. Anyone looking at the landscape can easily see that should HBO get a opportunity to pick up the UFC they surely will.

It'll mainly just be about if the UFC wants to go to premium cable as I think long term free TV is gonna help them increase their marketshare better & quicker in the US while its arguable if not outright provable via boxings progress over HBO's reign over the last 40ish or whatever years as the leader of boxing that it'll help make the UFC smaller in the US with its limited subscribers. Then again maybe with the streaming world ahead of us HBO will be able to branch out easier then its able to currently who knows.

LOL HBO is not going to cut boxing they will always do boxing, its not even much toward their budget. They might downsize the amount of fights they do but they wont remove it come on man.

Why do you think HBO Boxing will never end?

It would definitely be a shock & damn near like a death in the family to me even as a person predicting HBO will get out of the boxing business in the near future, but by no means do I think its an impossibility with the writing on the wall & how small HBO boxing has gotten over the last 15 or so years with its dwindling budget.

Of course nothing is improbable but the likelihood that HBO boxing will be gone by 2018 is kinda hard to believe.

Why would they remove boxing is the question? only way I can see it happening is if all the promoters jump ship.

they will create their own boxing super-network called AHB anti-haymon-boxing. then they will go toe to toe with haymon and see who can lose the most money(spoiler haymon)

I suspect to make room for the UFC. MMA is bringing a younger demographic thats still growing. Boxing has arguably reached its peak or at least its peak for the near future (unless PBC is able to do something outside of premium cable).

I don't think promoters have anything to do with HBO keeping or getting rid of HBO Boxing.

Promoters supply fighters, Haymon has the deepest stable right now and Arum is not working with HBO, so they only left with Golden Boy and Duva and Roc Nation as their main.

I dont think UFC will go to HBO they almost did until the guy working there put his girlfriend in a rear naked choke and got fired nixing the deal.

So now UFC is exclusive to FOX, when does their FOX deal end maybe they will go there?

Unless HBO creates their own MMA company, if they do create one they would dominate and it would be awesome. Id tune in for sure.

Boxing is getting outdated, I dont know many people especially young folks who even follow it, UFC is a powerhouse thats for sure they are superior in the way they have been able to grasp the youth, something boxing has trouble with doing for decades.

Unless Boxing can recapture the youth, its just going to continue and be a niche sport.

Its crazy how boxing went from being one of the Biggest major sports in America to now a niche sport rarely covered on mainstream tv or sports shows.
