Comments Thread For: Frank Warren: We'll Be Talking Golovkin vs. Smith After Saturday

Frank Warren wants unimpressed Mexican and American fight fans to understand that Canelo Alvarez is in for a real fight Saturday night. The British promoter believes the 28-year-old Smith, though mostly unknown outside the United Kingdom, has everything it takes to pull off what would be considered a huge upset at the Dallas Cowboys' AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas (HBO Pay-Per-View; $64.99 in HD; 9 p.m. ET; 6 p.m. PT).

No Frank! It's your boy Billy Joe who has to fight GGG next, not Liam!

Smith can beat Canelo but getting a decision won't be easy. The score cards were filled 3 weeks ago.

HBO pay per view $64.99. Wow that's expensive for a pay per view compared to the UK. That's almost £50.

I'd be surprised if Smith does more than keep Canelo occupied for some rounds. One thing the two do have in common though.... I can't understand either one of 'em when they speak.

If Smith somehow wins it will be Smith-BJS that gets made.

                Yeah, crazy.

UK is only 60m population, about 6x less than USA yet a fight like Brook v Golovkin probably did around 400-600k buys here.

I guess it's down to pricing. £15ish or whatever it usually is isn't bad at all for a PPV i think. I think it's about right.

£50 is too much i think. It's not really the actually money either, more the principle of paying that much money to sit in your own home watching a figtht on your own TV. I think some PPV's in USA cost even more than this one too.

They might be talking Smith vs. GGG, but it will be Smith vs. Brook in the UK!

$70? Basic cable TV costs more than $150 a month, after the BS intro deal. Canelo fights a smaller guy who never did anything to be on PPV. No thanks. I know, but Smith isn't a smaller guy. He will be and he never beat anybody with a pulse, but I'm still rooting for him.
