I'm beginning to think canelo is following the mayweather path of trying to be the most disliked guy in the sport

Like when floyd kept making excuses not to fight pac but kept talking smack the whole time

I dont think ive seen this much unity in the boxing community over a duck before.

Normally there are extenuating circumstances and contexts that make the duck acceptable in some peoples eyes, but really Canelo is getting slaughtered day in day out by pretty much everyone in boxing who comments on it

The comments after the Cotto fight (and more since then) just made the whole situation a million times worse for the guy

This was the very definition of ducking. It's very hard to deny unless you're obsessed with hating Golovkin.

Alvarez fought for a belt Golovkin was mandatory to, made a deal for a voluntary defense with the understanding he would fight Golovkin next, and explicitly said he was going to fight him. To vacate his belt a week or two after that, with no honest effort to make the Golovkin fight, is a duck. There's no better example of a duck this sport can offer.

Add in the bull**** he has spewed in the lead up to the Smith fight and it's blatantly obvious that he wants nothing to do with Gennady Golovkin.

Oscar advised Canelo that he shouldn't fight Trout or Lara but Canelo insisted that he wanted to. Suddenly now Canelo doesn't have the power to say he wants the fight and that it's all Oscar. If Canelo really wanted it, he could do as he did with Trout and Lara and say **** it, I'll fight Golovkin.

Oscar only gave in because he thought Canelo could win. Look at what Hopkins said back in April 27, 2016:

I know it's fight night weight and he makes whatever weight he decides to come in at, but Canelo comes in higher than Golovkin on fight night. Yes, there's no limit to how much you rehydrate but come on. Hopkins/Hoya was really a case of the bigger man meeting the middle man almost halfway. It doesn't make sense to lose weight when your opponent is "bigger" than you. Imagine if Oscar was coming in weighing more than Hopkins? I wouldn't imagine things would be the same. Regardless, Canelo has more to lose than they think. If his sales decline, he may be forced to fight GGG earlier than he wants and may not get so favorable a 155 on his side. This whole situation is just ****ing irritating. 155 is bull**** but I would settle for 158.
