I can see why they get compared a lot with being from that area of the world and being KO fighters, but they're completely different in the ring. Kov hits harder and is a bit faster, maybe quicker too. But Golovkin has the edge in all other areas.

Note: by quicker I mean "thinks Faster" (golovkin seems to be able to read his opponent very well and act on his prediction whereas Kov seems to react a bit faster mentally)

        About equal.

Both are good at cutting off the ring against runners.

GGG probably has more one punch power, but Kovalev (at his best) probably puts hard punches together better (see the combination that KOed Sillakh).

P4P top two best fighters in the sport.

Neither demand home advantage, they go into their opponents' home towns and win.

Talented CLEAN boxers - neither need resort to illegal tactics: to run, to headbutt, to clamp their opponents' arms, to elbow, to clinch, to low blow, or to hit off the break.

From what I've seen so far, Golovkin

GGG is better boxer but Kovalev loves beating up people and has big balls. Reminder, Kovalev got dropped by GGG in sparring.

Golovkin slightly. But both are highly skilled.

Golovkin probably has a higher p4p skill level but he hasn't had the same chances to put it on display with all the *******s at middleweight

I like Kovalev's style much more though, he is never boring. Golovkin can be a bit too textbook.
