I got on the Pac band wagon late and crossed over from a Floyd fan. It all came down to Pac having to beat all odds in the twilight in his career to get the fans to demand a fight with Floyd. Floyd had all the cards when Pac got KO'd and what pissed me off was the obvious notion that Floyd all along never wanted to fight him. He was giddy with happiness that Pac had failed miserably and (thought) would become irrelevant. The idea that the P4P number 1 superstar would be happy that his greatest potential test and money grab had subsided to nothing. It was a major low for the sport IMO in that sense. Amazing win for Marquez however.
Floyd was an awesome promoter and character for our time and it was him who pulled my interest into boxing. The 24/7 series and theatrics involved in it was the birth of reality TV boxing and it changed the sport for the good in many cases.
But Pac was the fighter of the decade and that in itself is very fitting.
