    i don't think danny garcia or canelo would quit...but they wouldn't be making anywhere near that the type of money the are, and their records would be a bit different.

      Nice thread question. Fighter's handlers are so duplicitous because taking loses diminishes their charges earning potential and standing to a significant degree in a sport where the '0' in the loss column is king.

      That emphasis isn't as feasible when fighters actually fight at and beyond their level. Everyone is likely to take a loss or two so rather than 'how will a loss effect my career?' being the primary concern it would more likely be, 'how will not fighting effect my career?'

      We've kind of got an indication of how this would work. It's the UFC.
      Danny Garcia's career would still be problematic from a fans perspective because Angel would still be doing what he feels he should as a father. Keeping his son as safe as possible whilst he's bringing home the paycheck.
