If Wilder had chosen a live opponent (even if he had to wait a couple of more weeks for someone to get ready) his ratings would be better.

In the past, the WBC champions usually fought opponents who were 1) a mandatory 2) undefeated, or 3) ranked in the top 10.

Luis Ortiz would have fought Wilder instead of his WBA challenge. Even Parker took on a better opponent this year than Wilder, namely Carlos Takam.

boxing is far from dead the reson why the holmes fight got more views is because womens mma is still oddity. Viewers are not used to seeing WOMEN dripping in blood kicking and choking one another so its got slot more buzz than an hw boxing match
