UFC on FOX 20 Holly Holm peaks at 4.687million, Deontay PBC 1.3 million views

    UFC on FOX 20 Holly Holm peaks at 4.687million, Deontay PBC 1.3 million views

    What can be done? Both were on Fox, yet the UFC fight headlined by holly holm had close to a 5 million view rating, but the heavyweight champion of the world Deontay Wilder barely broke 1 million on free tv on same channel and network.

    What is boxing doing wrong? This is why Boxing needs a Dana White who knows how to market a product to the internet generation. Boxing is run by some outdated ways, they still use print and radio ads.

    The whole UFC show averaged 2.975M. The whole PBC show averaged 1.759M.

    Still a clear victory for the UFC but not as bad as the OP's distortion of facts would indicate.

      Almost 5 million viewers is insane for that time slot on a Saturday night. Like the poster said, that's probably the peak viewers, and the average around 2.5-3 mil, but still surprised at those numbers.

        Well for one Holly Holm beat the big star. Deontay hasn't done anything yet. Let him beat Fury or Klitschko then have a big fight against Joshua or someone on that level on Fox and it would have big ratings.

        So let's recap:

        1. Wilder never "beat the man" of the division. It would also help tremendously if that "man of the division" was a huge American star. Holm beat Rousey, which would be like beating Mayweather essentially in boxing since Rousey was Arguably the UFCs biggest star at the time. Wilder was coming off wins most all of America had never heard of.

        2. Really just just number 1. Unfortunately for Deontay and boxing is that there are no "Rouseys" of the heavyweights division. Americans don't know who the **** anyone is, so that's a problem. But word would definitely spread if he were to fight Fury or Joshua.

            Tbh I don't think anything can be done. Mma just fits with how people like things these days. Even a lot if you guys complain how some of these boxing matches go and it's brutal when it goes on for 36 minutes compare to 15.

            Every sports is going to go on a high then die out like baseball is dying in America and football basically have completely taken over. I'm pretty sure football is going to lose its popularity in my lifetime and basketball will be the dominance sport in America.

                Boxing is usually only as popular as the heavy weights who have always carried the sport. not even including wilder but the average person does not know who any of the HW's are. Even with all the disruption fury purposely causes I continually have to tell guys who actually like boxing who he is. Many people still don't know Wlad lost his belt who don't watch boxing on a regular basis...lol


                I even had to tell some boxing fans who actually follow boxing who wilder was and that he was defending the title on free T.V the night of the fight...Boxing simply is run by ppl who don't want to pay for advertising and the major problem making fights that should happen not years apart. People also have to remember UFC is not a sport its an organization,they are free to market it as it pleases. Boxing as a whole are run by knuckle heads who don't know how to market a fight,and lets be real Arreola wasn't exactly even a good sell even for free.


                Im not sure where the below video took place but if more fight expos were done and MMa/Boxing coincided it would help promote both....

                  Boxing has been out of sight out of mind of many sports fans outside of the biggest fights for a couple decades. Meanwhile MMA has been on free TV in various forms for a couple decades.

                  You reap what you sow & boxing hasn't given a f#ck about sports fans in forever. Their only focus has been on hardcore fans & those with some extra money to spend on cable, HBO & Showtime & the random PPV a couple times a year. PBC is helping change that dynamic, but it'd be silly to think anything is changing in a year or two when sports fans haven't been connected to this sport in a couple decades or for some younger fans ever.
