    World champion Sergey Kovalev was given plenty to think about ahead of November's mega-fight with Andre Ward after being taken 12 rounds by tricky challenger Isaac Chilemba. What was meant to be a glorious homecoming as Kovalev fought on Russian soil for the first time since 2011 turned into an awkward night as he defended his WBA 'super', IBF and WBO light-heavyweight titles.

    Well... I think I can say that It was a logical opponent to pick in the given circumstances. Now we wait for Ward himself.

            So when Ward beats Brand will it be a fair comparison between Kovalev and Brand? Hell no

            Their had to be something lost in translation when he made this comment. If not Kovalev needs to get a mental examine and get his sight check similar to Mares.

              NOT EVEN CLOSE!!! I just hope Ward/Krusher don't turn into Pac/mayweather! boring fight where kovalev chases ward all night! and ward wins by Decision!!! looking fwd to a great scrap! anyone know the date set for this event?

                He is likely comparing the fact that they both have good movement, have good defense, slip punches well, etc. He said they were similar, not that they were the same in terms of talent. I'm sure he damn knows Ward is a much better, much tough fight.

                    What problems are caused by one fighter is not always caused by the other.....kovalev was shown to have weaknesses and took far too many straight punches, was it because kovalev underperformed and it was a bad night or was it he just shown to be lacking...I don't know ..all I know is when ward and kovalev no one can be certain which fighter wins and pretty much an even fight....lets make the fight and may the best man win
