This HW prospect looks a bit special

Just came across Oleksandr Teslenko (Ukrainian based out in Canada) I was expecting a typical big, slow, lumbering out-of-shape robot but I was actually instantly impressed with what I seen.

6ft5, 216lbs but solidly built with almost 250 amateur fights. How have I never heard of this guy? And he is only 23!

    His pro debut

Ammy fight - few more on YT if you're interested.

Searched the forum but nothing at all I did however find this

Athletically he looks great for a HW. Speedy, good reflexes and pretty good footwork. That straight right is sneaky. And its good to see a big guy dictate with his jab. Of course, judgement will have to be reserved until we see him face a guy who can show us what kind of chin and endurance the guy has. But his skillset is easy to see.

Only con I can see: he keeps his hands pretty low! Particularly the jab hand. He got hit with some silly punches because of it. Strange for a European fighter with such a good amateur career.

Also: WTF is it with Ukrainians being the biggest mofos on the planet? What's in the water over there?

He fights a bit like Vitali Klistchko. He is obviously very well schooled, a typical 'European amateur', measured and polished at a young age.

The European approach to sports in general is so technical. Look at the NBA guys from Europe who come over to play. They're always known for their extremely sound fundamentals. Its no different in boxing.

Yes, it's true. And they come to the pro ranks with this vast amateur experience, hundreds of fights literally. I read somewhere else this guy started boxing school at 7 years of age, somewhere in Ukraine. I couldn't find what youth championships he were in.

An Eastern European father will have his son running to pre school. Lol

Yes, well noticed! He doesn't hold his hands back far enough, not only making his defense suspect but also reducing power. A good trainer would address this. Great talent though.
