Comments Thread For: James DeGale: I Want To One Day Be The Pound For Pound Best

With James DeGale making his third straight North American appearance tonight when he faces Rogelio "Porky" Medina at the DC Armory in Washington, D.C., it might be time to make the Londoner an honorary citizen of the United States or Canada.

BoxRec has him at #45 right now, got a long way to go. He'll probably break the top 20 soon.

he did say he has a long way to go - nothing wrong with having dreams especially if they motivate you going forward to be the best you can.
If he falls short and only gets to be top 10 P4P then nothing wrong with that either.

He's out in the world looking for it, I'll give him credit for that. He's not trying to lure greatness to his home town.

Get all the belt's, move up and beat chickenson to a pulp and then try and beat the krusher and then perhaps this thread will be bumped...

If he unifies his division and rules it for a while, i can't see why he can't get up there in the top 10. The only problem is that the division isn't that strong compared to 5 years ago or so. You wouldn't exactly say the other champions there now are top fighters.

BoxRec has Canelo at #1 (questionable win Lara)
and Thurman at #5 (best win Guerrero) - Dirrell and Bute better wins than Guerrero
                    Roman Gonzalez at #18 (ludicrous)
Jezreel Corales at #30 (what ? based off beating a 36 yr old champ?)
Troyanovski at #31 (based off 2 wins over Cuenca who probably had the most padded record of any boxing champ)
Povetkin at #35 (only one loss to P4P top 5 fighter at time)
Glowacki at #38 (beats Huck then durable ex Heavyweight coming down [and that puts him at 38 and Thurman at #5?] )

Totally fucked up. might as well be based on who has the best haircut.
I doubt DeGale is thinking about BoxRec when he speaks about being top P4P-er.
