If you are not going to go for greatness, then just stay in your lane and stop talking about being an all-time great. Many fighters have moved up in weight to try to be great. Some succeed, others don't. Khan is trying this in his next fight with Canelo, who generally fights smaller fighters moving up in weight. After the Khan fight 9 of Canelo's last 13 opponents would've been smaller fighters moving up in weight, and sometimes moving up two weight classes.

If GGG really wanted to fight Ward, he would do it at 168, since they claim that he is one of the greatest fighters ever, and would fight "anyone" from 154 to 168. Otherwise, just stay at middleweight and fight other middleweights, instead of offering to fight 'some' 168 pounders and not others (Golovkin's team tried to make a fight with Froch and Chavez Jr. at the full 168). If GGG is really knocking out 175 pounders in sparring, then Ward at 168 should not have been more of a problem than Froch or Chavez Jr at 168, So they opened the door to this criticism when they claimed they would fight anyone in 4 different weight classes.

I don't agree. It's nice if fighters are willing to make concessions for big money fight. Like Floyd going up for Oscar and not Winky, its understandable. Ward would get a lot more respect if he went up to fight Stevenson then back down, vs moving up and taking forever with all these tuneups. Or if Sergio had gone up for a one off vs Froch, major plaudits.

I don't agree at all. Greatness isn't defined by being champions in multiple weights. Hagler and Pep are two guys who are of the absolute upper tier of ATG lists and both men built their careers in a single division, even when that division didn't offer the best competition. Yet, several times, they both proved to be a level above the people in their weight divisions.

I understand why Golden boy would want it at 155, as it gives their fighter a better chance. Lets not forget Golden Boy is a business.

I don't think Canelo is scared of ggg but people around him want to wait.

I might be wrong but did Canelo state before the Cotto fight that Cotto insisted on the 155 weight and he reluctantly accepted.
