Kovalev's competition has been too soft...

    Past 4 fights:

    Pascal (x2)
    Hopkins
    Mohammedi

All these guys are relatively small, not much power, none of them have a true LHW frame. Pascal-Hopkins have been on the decline since '10, while Mohammedi has a glass chin. He may fight Ward next, another smaller guy who might be past his prime.

-Hopkins really struggled against Karo Murat, very competitive fight. He dominated Shumenov after that but let's face it, dude was garbage (schooled by Campillo) and was tailor made for Hopkins' style.

-I also thought Pascal looked like ***** against post-Froch Bute who was just coming off a close fight with Denis Grachev. He wasn't able to drop him despite landing some very clean punches, very unimpressive performance.
Pascal also arguably should've lost to Gonzales.

The best true lhw Kovalev has defeated was Cleverly, another guy who had a very competitive fight with Karo Murat (terrible stoppage) and doesn't hit that hard.

Light heavy has some big, hard hitting durable guys in it and I think Stevenson-Kovalev are in for a shock when they do fight them.
Beterbiev, Shabranskyy, Barrera, Gonzales, Gvozdyk, Browne, etc. all these opponents are more dangerous than anything either guy has faced at 175.

You are complaining about his resume while sporting an avatar of a man who blatantly ducked him.

Didn't you pick Hopkins to beat him?

The guy faced a unified champ who was ranked in the top 3, a top 5 contender (though the rematch was not needed), and his mandatory.

Even if you don't think those 3 are good, he fought the best guys in his division.

When he fought Hopkins, Hopkins was the top rated light heavyweight not named Stevenson or Kovalev.

When he fought Pascal the first time, Pascal was the top rated light heavyweight not named Stevenson, Kovalev, or Hopkins.

When he fought Pascal the second time, Pascal was the top rated light heavyweight not named Stevenson, Kovalev, or Fonfara.

He has a great resume at the top. Where his resume struggles is at the next level where he has a lot of poor names like Sillakh, Agnew, Caparello, and Mohammedi.

It's shocking that people blind themselves to this. There's never a legit argument to it either. People just get frustrated and throw insults like fools. Kovalev does pass the eye test exceedingly well but his comp is laughable for the type of praise he gets. That's less a commentary on the man and more about the fans being fans. I speculate that he's quite good but you can't support that with his level of comp.

He's killing everybody on their home turf. Another reason why Sergey gets so much respect, he actually enjoys going into enemy territory and shutting those fans up.

He beat the top guys he needed to beat to get where he's at.. and he beat them in a brutal fashion.

You're a beterbiev supporter, funny, you know Beterbiev turned down to fight Kovalev? Gonzalez also did.

Barrera is overrated, he gasses out quite fast and his punching power is awfully average

Shabrankskyy looks interesting.. but he's no where near the level of Kovalev
