Comments Thread For: Campillo: Kovalev Can Beat Ward, Beterbiev a Bigger Puncher

As krikya360.com reported on Friday, former light heavyweight champion Gabriel Campillo announced his retirement from the sport. Campillo made that important decision after suffering back to back knockout defeats, last year, to rising contenders Artur Beterbiev and Marcus Browne.

By the time he fought Beterbiev, he couldn't even handle a punch from Floyd... so that comment should be taken with a grain of salt..

The real issue is that a 32-year old, one-division champion who has only beaten 30+ over-the-hill Europeans on his own soil is ranked so highly on lb 4 lb lists, but needs 3 tune ups to fight at 32 years old...

How long do we need 30+ year olds to build fights for?

He's 37 and took a lot of punishement these last years by fighting a lot of young lions

After being TKOed by Kovalev in 2013, he was not the same.

Then, he was KOed by Andrzej Fonfara, Artur Beterbiev and Marcus Browne.

His victory (RTD) on Thomas Williams Jr is a lucky day's one, at my opinion.

His family must be happy by that decision

          Especially on very short distance...

I think also that the hard straight left of Adonis Chickenson is bigger than Kovalev's...

i cant agrue with either statement..adonis's left hand floored bika..NOBODY DOES THAT LOL..not to mention the dawson sleep fest..while kov went 12 with a 50 year old and pascal ended botht fights on his feet..kovalev seems to have accumulative power..

When it comes to one-punch KO power I think Adonis is the number one guy in the division. Beterbiev needs to be busy, his last fight was back in June last year...When will he be back in the ring?

I believe with out a doubt when it comes to KO power it goes; Stevenson, Kovalev, Beterbiev. Stevenson power good but overrated. Kovalev has big power but effective through an accumulation of punchs... Beterbiev on the other hand seems to be a very frightening character for the divison and in my view doesn't have much more to prove he is worthy of a title shot.
