there's an incentive, and it's due to the market price of top fighters who get "a side money."

networks don't incentivize tougher opponents for regular premium network time slots. they can't afford to pay you much more to fight a good fighter, so why not fight a bum?

networks have to stop getting behhind fighters and start getting behind fights. i really think it's the TV networks and the inflated price of an "A side" purse that's to blame for the mismatches, and the PPVS.

when andre ward gets 2 million for edwin rodriguez, there's a problem.

Problem is too many fans and fighters don't understand how Floyd Mayweather got to the top of the sport or how he stayed there.
This hits it on the head. I know a lot of folks accuse Floyd of this or that but Floyd also had to grind to the top until he was able to call all of the shots. These guys need hallway supervisors to walk them to the bathroom this early in the game....smh

He gots a point, if a ****ty point no one wants to hear from someone actively in the sport. I do think its a valid point that many see as the ideal career trajectory to take these days & is why fans (casual & hardcore) fall out of love with boxing or cheat on boxing more via watching other sports every year.

You can't have a sport where the best aren't fighting the best as often as they should be & expect it to be as popular as it could be & ultimately thats effecting the money in the sport & if this strategy continues its only a matter of time before money dries up & less & less are getting these 8 digit paydays.

Dig Angel, but this mindset is self destructive to boxing & why there needs to be an elite league of boxers in this sport asap so there is some level of quality control somewhere.

Angel Garcia is just echoing what Haymon tells him and his son. Not hard to imagine how their conversations go whenever they meet. Haymon paved the way to it, let's be honest.
