his feet are slow as molasses, he loads up on every shot, he has no urgency and he poses too much. but then i guess you don't need urgency when you know the judges are going to do their best to give you the win regardless. honestly, i came away from the fight with a reduced opinion of both cotto and canelo. two deeply flawed fighters

I wasn't impressed at all. He beat Cotto, so has Mayweather, Trout, Margarito, and Pacquiao. Not only did they beat a more prime version of Cotto but they did it in a more impressive fashion. We all knew Cotto could be beat. We all knew this Cotto resurgence was a joke. Rodriguez, one legged Martinez, drained Geale. If Canelo is special he would've ended Cotto's career last night. I'm sorry but I'm just not impressed with a 25 year old Canelo getting a decision over a 35 year old past prime Cotto. And he never even had Cotto in trouble. Margarito hurt Cotto more in their rematch than Canelo did tonight. I didn't buy this supposed Cotto resurgence and I'm not buying Canelo is elite.

Don't know why anyone would haggle over the scorecard.Canelo clearly won.Cotto's volume and "power" hardly deterred Alvarez.Cotto's ol' lady was packing more than he was lol!!

I think Canelo should stay away from GGG. He's young and he doesn't need to take that kind of beatdown so early in his career. He should remain disciplined and campaign at 154 for as long as possible where he has clear physical advantages.

He clearly learned from the Mayweather fight. When he fought Jr. he was always waiting to set up what he wanted and it just wasn't there, Jr. was too slick. He showed against Cotto he can still get his even when the other guy is focused on playing defense and isn't always coming forward. I was a little nervous after the first round but once Canelo realized Cotto didn't have the power to hurt him it was pretty much over. Props to Cotto for not going down in the final round though.
