Comments Thread For: Sanchez: Golovkin Only Goes To 154 For Mayweather

Abel Sanchez, trainer of WBA/IBF/IBO middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs), says his fighter would still be willing to drop down to the junior middleweight limit of 154-pounds for a bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr. (49-0, 26KOs).

Mayweather retired in September after winning a twelve round unanimous decision. There are still pending rumors that he might entertain a return, to chase his 50th win, in 2016.

Sanchez was clear and to the point. Watch as others twist his message to whatever they want it to be.

Exactly, and here are some others who ducked/ducking GGG

1---Felix sturm - wouldn't fight him for over 2 years when GGG was mandatory.

2---Peter quillin - said he will only fight for the may-pac kind of money, lol + he flew to Haymon to avoid GGG

3---Sergio martinez - "His promoter said that "no way I am putting him with this monster", GGG kept calling him out after his U.S. debut after every fight

4---Hassaan ndam njikam -When Hassaan was WBO champ, he was ordered to a purse bid to face Golovkin no less than two times and he was a no show each time.

5---Miguel cotto - didn't want to fight him despite being mandatory.

6---Julio cesar chavez jr - Turned down 12mil offer by TR

7---Saul alvarez - Thinks that he is fighting at the weight-class of 155, as there is no such thing as a "155 weight-class" ,he is pretending to be not in the MW division because of GGG.There are 17 divisions just pick one, if you can't make 154 then you are a MW, simple.

8---Carl froch - After calling GGG out then when GGG accepted ,he backed down and now he is retired after making all the fuss, GGG was calling him for more than a year so no excuses for "retiring".

9---Andrea Ward. The diva of the 168lb division don't want to travel or meet the a-side GGG in a catchweight so he can become a good boy and get ktfo. Was willing to goto 160 for Floyd but when GGG said 164, Ward ducked.+ he was fine when Dawson came down a whole division for him but wont move half a division for GGG, smh

10---Sebastian Sylvester - When Sylvester was IBF champ, he ducked GGG blatantly

11---Darren Barker - When Barker defeated Geale to become IBF champ, his promoter openly said that Barker will fight any1 except GGG

And that's how it should be. GGG is not asking Floyd to go where (he's never been). Floyd is a 3 time 154lb champ. (With the final being a dirty catchweight). It's dirty because Floyd only fights people where they're healthy and he criticized Pacman for his catchweights.

Cotto and Canelo both are fighting for 160lb straps, have lolligaged somewhere in between for too long and should man up or **** off. There's no reason for a 155 lb catchweight. Maybe 158 at the lowest. But a pound over 154 is ridiculous.

As far as the Ward thing, there is absolutely nothing to compare to the Floyd thing like the Floyd fans so love to do. Floyd 3 time champ, GGG never been to 168. Furthermore in his 1st fight at 168, GGG shouldn't be required to face Ward. Luckily we've heard Ward decided to put on his big boy boxers and go hunt some big game, time will tell.

it started from in 2013 we'll fight ANYBODY from 154-168 to being called out by Lara who is a 154 fighter who said he'd got to 160 to fight golovkin to Andre Ward comin' to the backdoor where ggg TRIED to sneak in and fight carl froch and chavez and spook his ass out the back door and run back to 160th st
to 2015 we'll only fight floyd mayweather who is retired and who came up 5 weight classes to get to 154 but ggg won't go up one full weight class which is only 8 pounds to fight the consensus p4p #1 fighter in the sport for GLORY
ig ggg a priDe fighter or a priZe fighter? i think we know he only fights for the $

Any fight fan who considers Andre Ward to be the current P4P #1 fighter in the sport hasn't seen Ward's fight of 6-20-15 against Paul Smith and must not be aware of Ward's next fight opponent, Alexander Brand, BoxRec.com's 21st ranked super middleweight. Certainly Ward must not think himself to be P4P #1 fighter in the sport; why else would he be selecting such soft opponents?
