Comments Thread For: Wright Unsure if Khan Has Enough Power For Pacquiao

Former champion and future Hall of Famer Ronald "Winky" Wright is friends with Amir Khan, but he's unsure if the British boxer is packing enough power to fend off the incoming charge of Manny Pacquiao.

Khan is one of the candidates under consideration to face Pacquiao in what is going to be the Filipino boxer's final bout in the first quarter of 2016.

He would look good for the first 4 rounds or so, maybe even be up at that point. Then he'll start to gas, his flurries will get a little wider, and then he gets on his bike. Pac sweeps the rest of the rounds the second Khan starts his backpeddling, inaccurate flurrying thing.

Winky pretty much nailed it. Kahn's only answer for heavy hitters is to headlock or run. When you have a guy in Pac who is coming in at weird angles with real power and won't be inhibited by weak jabs, that's a real problem if you're Amir Kahn.

Kahn was so inaccurate in the Algeri fight it was unbelievable. Just flurries of fake "punches" to make himself look busy, and it worked on the judges apparently. If that's Virgil's plan for Pac, Kahn is going to be doing his ballet recital dance again.

Khan should win that fight fairly easy at this point, if Pacquiao couldn't beat Floyd then how the hell he going to beat the guy who made Floyd do a retirement-duck? He does have a puncher's chance but Pacquiao has never actually KOd anyone at 147 - not one single fighter so his power just isn't one-punch KO power at the weight. Khan should win it 8-4 or 9-3, and he'll outperform Floyd against a common opponent, like he always has done in the past (Maidana, Judah, Ortiz).

When Khans ummm...flurries? Yeah uh flurries...when Khans flurries turn into flailing, Pac shoots tthat straight left puts khan on his ace.

Khans always outta position when he uhhh flurries.

If Pacquiao even has 80% of what he used to, he beats Khan.

Khan has speed but his power isn't great, his footwork isn't great, his defence is very basic, he has a fairly low ring IQ, he can easily be timed by a smart fighter, no chin. I don't see how a guy with these attributes can live with Pacquiao unless he's totally shot, which he might be, but i'm not sure.

Personally, I think people are sleeping on Pacquiao because of the Floyd fight. Floyd is a different kettle of fish to everyone else, he's basically a stylistic nightmare for Pacquiao and basically one of the ATG's, Khan isn't anywhere close to that. This is a guy who hasn't fought a top level opponent since being flattened by Garcia, and has gone life and death with the likes of Algieri and Diaz in recent times. It's not comparable.

I think Pacquiao still has a couple of good fights left in him. He isn't what he once was but he still has more than enough for pretty much everyone else around his weight class. Pacquiao's being "shot" isn't the same as another guy, he's an ATG in his own right and i still think he has something left in the tank, enough to beat Khan anyway. Don't let the Mayweather fight distort your view, this guy is still a brilliant fighter.

In one sense, you can disregard anyones loss to Floyd. I don't mean that as take away credit from Floyd. I mean losing to Floyd isn't really an indicator of how good a guy is because everyone loses to him, so when looking at a guys current form as a fighter, you can really disregard that as an indication of where they're at. All it means is they're not as good as Mayweather...nobody is. It doesn't mean they're not better than the rest, because Pacquiao probably still is.

Still think Khan would beat Pacquiao comfortably at this stage. Felt that for a while.

When Khan 'flurries' as he did against the ordinary Garcia we all know what happens.
Surely unless Khan is lying again there won't be a Pacquiao fight because the week 'deadline' that Khan gave him is up ! ..lol
