Comments Thread For: Golovkin's Promoter Rejects Talk of PPV Doing Poorly

Promoter Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions has rejected any notion that Gennady Golovkin's pay-per-view debut was a bust.

Last Saturday night, Golovkin stopped David Lemieux in eight rounds to unify the WBO/IBO/WBA middleweight titles before a sold out crowd of over 20,000 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

    in before the insults

can we not hate on GGG for once and focus on his team instead?

It makes no sense to hate the guy for whatever they say. They manage, market, and train him.

I don't know why people the Floyd fanatics were acting like this was such a flop even at 100k. The budget was so low they wouldn't have lost that much money anyway.

At least he's not being inconsistent, it's easy to verify that he pegged 200k as the goal prior to the fight. But I'd be surprised if he wasn't a little bit disappointed with the turnout.

The 97k figure floating around seemed off, I am willing to believe that 150k was right around what it did.
