Too much clinching

I liked Postol after his KO of Aydin however last night he lost a fan in me, I was expecting a good fight between him and Matthysse but Postols win now I have seen the highlights twice is all based on excessive clinching and a headbutt in the 7th that had Matthysse clearly uncomfortable, im not certain but some guy mentioned on boxnation last night that his orbital bone may have broke during the headbutt.

I wouldnt call Matthysse a quitter those of you call a man whos faced Molina and then Provodnikov should be ashamed, two complete wars and this is the treatment you vultures throw at a boxer who went out there to entertain you.

Ever since the Danny Garcia fight where he got dropped and had that huge swollen eye he has never been the same fighter. Plus he had to wars against Molina and Ruslan that took at least 2 years of his prime away even after victory.

He needs a world class trainer if he wants to make a serious comeback. He can't stop a overhand right if his life dependent on it.

Garcia damaged him pretty much. Maybe Postol poked him in the eye too.

Yeah I gotta agree.

People need to relax on the Lucas is a quitter talk. And I'm not even a Matthysse fan. But if he said that he thought something popped in his eye -- who are we to judge? Especially while our asses were chilling in the comfy confines of our homes watching it on our big screens.

The guy is on the backside of his career. If he heard something pop then yeah, I'd be concerned about my long term health too.

Even if he pulls the curtains closed on the career tonight he had himself a real good run that he should be proud of. But of course the keyboard warriors gonna keyboard warrior and call his entire career a travesty because he didn't rise up from a ten count...lol. F**king nerds.

I didn't mind his clinching because that was a specific strategy designed for this fight.... what bothered me was Matthysse's only gameplan being to punch behind the head. He wasn't aggressive enough trying to free the clinched arm.

Lucas IS a quitter. He openly admitted it. He said, I could've continued, but choose not to. He literally quit.

The man obviously does not have a great chin. Postol is not a puncher at all. He had a less than 50% KO ration before the fight. Looks like Lucas is a bit finished, and man will Oscar be pissed off his big investment just went down the gutter.

If you saw the fight between Lucas and Judah you could see how a combination of boxing skills and hand-speed with good lateral movement neutralizes his offense. Although i thought he beat Zab, the fact remained that a good boxer with a decent beard could beat him.

As also mentioned Lucas has been in some recent wars of attrition and physically that has taken a bit of a toll.

I've got mad respect for Lucas but I always thought people were too high on him too. He's a very good fighter that made a judgment call against another very good fighter and I don't hate on that. He was f**ked, he's living to fight another day and all. Good luck to him, but he was never like another Chavez or anything.

Bearcat has been saying for years that mini Matty is just not very good. Keep in mind Maidana has beaten Mini Matty 4 times at home that is why they never fought as a pro. matty is far overhyped because Mini matty is not black but the small dwarf is quite average as losses to Devon and bradley and Garcia and now Postol proves. Put the dwarf matty back in santa' sleigh. enough of this matty is great crap. Bearcat out.

I had a feeling Matty quit because either his nose or orbital bone broke. I'm very surprised he chose not to get up though.
