Comments Thread For: Mayweather: I Stay Too Long, Anything Can Happen

LONDON - Superstar Floyd Mayweather is adamant that his fight with Andre Berto this weekend will be his last.

The pound-for-pound king is set to hang up the gloves after his 49th fight, live and exclusive on BoxNation, admitting that he wants to get out of the sport while he has all his faculties intact.

“Number 49 is my last fight,” said Mayweather. “No one is in my shoes. My health is more important. If you stick around anything too long, anything can happen. I'm not really worried about losing, but I want to have a sharp mind. You can make a lot of money, but you still want to be able to talk, walk, and have a sharp mind.”

Will the haters give him credit if he does retire for good?

Winners leave the table when they ahead. Pacfarts hyped up #48 for years and said Floyd was ducking him. On May 2nd, he crushed their dreams and made them cry. No matter who he beats they will keep saying he's ducking someone else. Can't please delusional, pathetic haters. Nothing more to prove, time to get out the sport.

Can't even lie. I would of loved to see all of those fights (except Cintron). Not pointing the blame finger at anybody but still.

That's the icing on the cake if he's able to retire on top, that in itself is a rarity among greats.

a few years ago i suspected that he'd be one of those fighters who push their luck until it runs out, but lately with him visibly slowing down and the whole roger thing i have started to believe that he'll really quit for good... after #50 (garcia)

Translation: My career has been carefully fabricated, if I fought legit opponents, I wouldn't be undefeated. That's why I ducked Gennady and Pacquiao in his prime back in 2010.
