GGG sits down on his shots and looks like a monster against wholly average guys with no punch like Geale, Macklin and Murray...those are his best wins and im supposed to be impressed....PUUUUHLEEEEASE

    Now that's phony and cheap

Ward is younger and has fewer pro fights and his resume is in another galaxy compared to GGG and he doesn't get all this hype

When Mayweather has the same amount of fights he was in his 3rd division, 11 total title defenses and lineal champion in 2 divisions and people said he was ducking this guy or that guy or scared

GGG's resume is on the same level as Keith Thurman.....Even Khan who is someone people trash on here has faced a lot of good competition in 2 weight classes

      'Title defences'

Its irrelevant how the title was obtained, its the defences of it, no matter how much you dont want to accept it in Golovkins case

        It's a minor title.

I merely researched that the The Nilson Julio Tapia, Kassim Ouma, Lajuan Simon, Makoto Fuchigami, Grzegorz Proksa, & Gabriel Rosado title defenses were prior to GGG being the sole (thus true) WBA champion. Hence instead of Lemieux being his 15th defense, I argued it's his 9th. IBO Would be his 12th.

Fair enough but the only reason that regular title opened up is cause Sturm paid off the WBA to promote him to super champ so he can avoid the Ggg mando.

Even if all of those title defences were of the legitimate title it doesn't matter. Title defenses mean little.

If you look at all of guys in recent memory who have lots of title defenses; Hopkins, Calzaghe, Ottke, Sturm, Virgill Hill, Abraham what do they all have in common? Most of those defences are padded with weak opposition.

Lemieux doesn't want to have anything to do with that record... So nope !

GGG gets ignored by the Promoters who control boxing

GGG is willing to fight the best fighters in the world at 160lbs and will go down to 154lbs and up to 164lbs which isn't a weight class. If boxing had balls which it does not then GGG would be fighting the likes of Canelo and Cotto and Quillin and Jacobs and Lee and even a Charlo. Boxing is uncontrolled and paid off by rich promoters which is sad. Cash is King and Gold rules in boxing. GGG is getting f-c-k-ed. deal with it. Tell *****. Boxing isn't a sport anymore but more of a sleazy rodent carnival run by slime balls.

The only record Hopkins has is being the oldest fighter to win a lineal title amd win major titles

Anyone who considers Hopkins the record holder of title defenses is just trying to inflate his resume or simply DKSAB

Monzon beat Nino Benvenuti who won the Val Barker award in the same Olympics Ali competed, became a hall of famer and the lineage he had can be traced

Hopkins fought Sergundo Mercado twice to win the IBF trinket and has 20 defenses of it.....lineal title defenses he has like 6-7

GGG didn't even beat the champion for his belt....He didn't fight Geale or Sturm they gave him a world title
I am in the Monzon camp and that's why I looked at the various degree the 'record' can be looked at from. It's also why when I do the site ratings I separate the records for lineal champs and belt holders. Golovkin isn't quite the same as Hopkins given the WBA splits, but it's not that far apart either. It's all just belts until you reign as the one true champ.
