Had Margarita stayed active he might've landed the Mayweather fight the way Floyd is picking opponents nowadays.

It's crazy because Floyd actually gives fighters extra incentive to continue fighting even though they may have some bad losses on their record.

You could still win the Mayweather sweepstakes!

I think if Canelo pressures intelligently, and counters well, Cotto cannot avoid standing in front of Canelo for 12 rounds. Cotto is a great boxer, but he's not Mayweather.
Cotto and Roach know that this is his best punch and they will train to neutralize it, when Cotto was fighting Mayweather, Mayweather had to improvise cuz Cotto was prepared for the straight right hand down the pipe and he was catching it a lot of the times, so what Mayweather did was to loop the right around the guard and step to the side and follow up by the left uppercut between the gloves, these are adjustments that only someone like Mayweather can do, if Canelo tried to box he's probably gonna get the worst of it cuz Cotto is also fast and he utilizes angles much better than Canelo, if Canelo was to bring the pressure he won't be able to sustain the output necessary to discourage and wear down Cotto without tiring, Canelo has the bad habit of not knowing when to throw with power and when not, he always puts all his body into the punch which is why he fades late if forced to throw too many punches. Canelo has to learn how to pace hinself and if he applies smart pressure than turn it up on Cotto in the middle rounds, he has a chance cuz if this turns into a slugfest, which is something that I don't expect, Canelo will probably get the better of it cuz he's fresher than Cotto.

50-50 fight no matter how u look at it.

That's true, Cotto did much better against Mayweather than Canelo, Cotto is the last fighter I remember than landed all kinds of punches on Mayweather without smothering himself and without being dirty, I've seen him land jabs, hooks to the body and head, straight right even uppercuts on Mayweather, i think in the 6th he landed one of the best punches he landed in the fight where he moved to Mayweather's left and landed a left hook upstairs, perfect utilization of angles against the master himself, Canelo wasn't a challenge for Mayweather and Mayweather didn't have zo adjust, he used experience and speed, things that Cotto also has, Cotto is now in a much better shape and training with a much better trainer and I wouldnt count him out against anyone at 154, at 160 it's a different story.

all comes down to cotto's gas tank. he's gonna be on his toes working behind the jab, if he can keep that up he wins on points easy, canelo can't cut the ring with a chainsaw.. but if cotto fades (which he has a history of) canelo corners him and stops him.
Not taking anything away from Cotto, but I think this "new" Cotto is a bit of a hallucination.

He beat Delvin Rodriguez, a done Sergio, and a B level fighter in Geale. Again, I think Roach has him confident, and coming forward but Canelo isn't any of those guys.

I see it as a 60/40 for Canelo, but I wouldn't be surprised if Cotto wins. He's an excellent boxer, a warrior and could hurt Canelo if he catches him no doubt.
Spoken like the True Native American that you really are but the only 60/40 I see is that pocketbook...That Purse Papi.. It's a 50/50 world were living in right now...
