Another reason why fans expect more from Golovkin...

He competed in the 2004 Olympics and won silver.

In that same Olympics, the likes of Gamboa, Rigondeaux, Amir Khan, Andre Dirrell, Andre Ward, Solis and Povetkin competed. Interestingly enough Golovkin and Dirrell fought in the same weight division.

After 10 years as a pro Golovkin is yet to fight at least one challenge, still opting to face easy opponents and fighters moving up in weight. Whilst all the others, have had more than there fair share of worthy opponents.

It makes you question Golovkin even more when fighters like Lomachenko are testing themselves within ten fights.

It's only fair that fans ask Golovkin to move up to the weight division he belongs and face fighters that are around his same size and skill level. It's laughable that he even thinks of himself as A-side without even beating anyone with a pulse!

Former great Olympic medalists have all moved up in weight to test themselves - De La Hoya, Mayweather, Roy Jones Jnr, Whitaker, Leonard - it's only right that Golovkin does too so we can see what he is well and truly made of.

He's not moving up so you might as well deal with it.

So we're just going to pretend Felix Sturm, Sergio Martinez, N'dam, Cotto, Canelo, Chavez jr and Froch turned him down right? Additionally Dmitry Pirog and Andy Lee fights fell apart (Pirog injured & GGG had to pulled out the Lee fight due to fathers passing). Yeah Golovkin doesn't have the greatest resume right now but there is a legit reason for that (obviously if these guys fought him his resume would be much better).

No matter, he's fighting a unification bout, trying to be the first man to unify all the middleweight titles together since Hopkins & has his mandatory status in place after that for Canelo/Cotto.

When did Canelo turn down GGG? As far as im concerned there was never an offer sent from GGG's team to Canelo's. (Your argument on the Lara-GGG fight)

Golovkin should be fighting at 168.

Spare me the it's everybody else's fault argument. They used to say the same thing about Keith Thurman. Once Haymon started paying top contender money Keith miraculously landed on the top of every other fighters hit list. When K2 starts paying top dollar fighters will be lining up.

what a fantastic rebuttal, absolutely masterful *sarcasm

why should he move up when he is in another title fight, and is set to face another title fight with the winner of cotto and canelo?

I don't think you gotta go that deep on "why more is expected of GGG". He's a elite level guy who keeps winning thus boxing fans wanna see him move up & find his level. This is whats going on with guys like Thurman & Garcia right now that is getting them some negative attention to. Rightfully your fault or not if you are a high level cat & not fighting better & better guys you are gonna get some bad attention. Thats just some fickle boxing fan **** although tbh I think its a good thing & par for the course.

In his defense he fights in the weakest division out of all those guys. Even if he beat the guys that ducked him his resume would be sub-par compared to his talent level.

You can't help who is in your division but you can make an effort to find ways to challenge yourself and take some risks to prove you're the best.
