Thurman isn't as powerful as most think.

Don't get me wrong he most likely is the hardest hitting welterweight out there but if you look at most of his shots he wings them hard and puts all his weight behind them almost looking as goofy as when Bradley does it.

True power is when guys like Beterbiev and Kovalev throw compact shots that don't look like much and just devastate their opponents.

There are levels to power just like anything else in boxing.

I like Thurman btw, not hating.

He does wing his shots, and he puts muther****as on their ass too. The verdict is still out on his true power. Need to see him in with some elite fighters. I'm convinced his power is legit.

And you're talking about guys that weight 190 on fight night. Huge ass 6ft 200lbrs. Not a fair comparison.

But yes those guys are very strong. Kovalev especially very good both hand power.

I agree. Maidana knocks him out. That chin won't hold up.

I agree. He has power but its from really loading up with all his momentum and weight.

He is not a true heavy handed fighter. He throws punches like he is swinging a baseball bat. But he can crack because he knows how to throw at full power, unlike guys like maligannagi who throw nothing but arm punches

I see what you are saying. His power comes from his speed and explosiveness. Similar to Donaire.

Guys like beterbieve or kovalev don't have to swing as wild to put you on your ass.

exactly watched a load of his early fights the other day against the regular bums, he still wasn't putting them away with 1 clean shot. He needs a good 2-3 at least. Hell I've seen him teeing off on said bums and them still standing.

No one ever said he was a one punch knockout artist and at 147 no one is really, he still might be the hardest puncher in the division though.

good call, i agree. there are many other examples in other weights too.

but i do think kovalev ggg are a combination of good power and timing.

That's just his style and technique I think. Kinda Roy jones ish not saying he's better then roy or near as good but that's what his punching style reminds me of.
