Here's my list
I know i willl get flamed for putting hasim rahman at no1 but i think this is a FACT that hasim rahman is the best heavyweight in the united states :P
1. Hasim rahman
2. Sergio
3. Wlad
4. Sultan ibragimov
5. Calvin brock
Ppls that missed out : brewster , valuev, Mr mcdonalds, etc -
1) Wlad
2) Byrd
3) Sergei
4) Toney
5) Valuev
...note, this will be subject to change in the next month...and Rahman would be sixth because for someone who trained so long for a championship fight, he sure did look like a bumb against a over-weight and out of shape Toney...Peter would be 7th.Comment

All kidding aside, Sergei beat the #1 HW. But with a rematch clause, and a close fight, and questionable opposition up to this point, I think the winner of Wlad-Byrd should be the #1 HW. Followed by the winner of the Sergei-Brewster rematch. Followed by winner of Rahman-Maskaev. Followed by Peter, Brock, etc.Comment

just because Sergei beat Brewster does not put him at the top of the list or even knock Brewster off it ....buster beat Tyson but was he ever better then the other top fighters at the time Bowe, Holyfieldor even Mike himself ....i say just hold off untill the rematch before you all brand Brewster as a has been or never wasComment

4. Rahman : Former U.D. Champ and current WBC champ

why a rematch? is a rematch needed to say a boxer is better than his foe?!!!! He beat brewster already...why does he need to fight him again. Progression is about moving forward, not staying in the same spot or moving back!Comment

1. Chris Byrd.
He's the longest reigning champion in the division, and regardless if you like it or not, he's the guy to beat. Wladimir Klitschko is challenging for the IBF and IBO belts, should make for a good fight...and the winner should be universally recognized as the heavyweight champ of the world. Byrd has beaten some names, including outboxing a wrecking ball in David Tua, outclassed a borderline washed up Holyfield, as well as boxed his way to several gift decisions. Doesn't change the fact he is the top guy on paper.
2. Wladimir Klitschko.
The most gifted and skilled heavyweight by far, 96 olympic gold medalist, and holds arguably the best amateur record in the division. 40 out of 45 wins by K.O. having only lost 3 fights. Keep in mind against arguably the best opposition possible.
3. Samuel Peter.
The hardest hitting heavyweight of the past 10 years since a prime Mike Tyson, and he holds one of the best chins in the division. Having never been floored, and only staggered slightly by arguably the hardest puncher in Wladimir Klitschko. A young force, that will continue to be a wrecking ball against Long in his next bout.
4. Danny Williams.
The Englishman who has won his last two fights against pretty solid opposition, and carries the intangibles that make a successful heavyweight. He has the heart as well as power to remain dangerous in fights, given he survives. Other fighters will have to be weary of this.
5. Hasim Rahman.
Having Drew with Toney in his last bout, he's still the current W.B.C. champion....and will defend his title against Oleg Maskaev. The winner of that fight should be easily crowned the fifth best heavyweight in the world.
