Comments Thread For: Mayweather Confident Opponent For 9/12 Will Be "Solid"

Floyd Mayweather insists he is still considering his next opponent for his planned farewell fight in September.

The American superstar has vowed to hang up his gloves after his 49th bout, expected to be held in Las Vegas on September 12, but is yet to choose the man in the opposite corner.

Mayweather this week suggested he would even offer a rematch to the 42-year-old Oscar De La Hoya, who has since ruled out coming out of retirement to avenge his 2007 points defeat.

        Legit NOBODY looks appealing.
Unless it's a Pacquiao rematch next May or he decides to put up against GGG, nobody has a good enough name. Thurman & Khan both seem kind of ehh. Like you wouldn't expect either to beat Floyd.

It could end up being GGG and Floyd would still be hated especially if Floyd wins.

Just why will be Floyd still hated in case he beats Golovkin? If he beats him, he beats him... what's the problem?

I's rather see a Mayweather vs Maidana III than watch a May-Pac rematch. Maidana gave tougher fight both times than Pacquiao. Pac just fought totally soulless.

I want to see Mayweather - Thurman or May-Brook but I would be okay with a Mayweather - Khan figt too, though Khan didn't really earn it...

Golovkin is after a big payday, I don't think he will complain, in case he agrees to go down even at 152 (because he already agreed to make 154 for Floyd)... I think Golovkin can make 152 -- he holds some noticeable body fat... Honestly, I don't think that Floyd vs GGG is doable for this September -- because Golovkin can't lose that kind of weight in good health, in such a short period of time.
