Comments Thread For: Team Lomachenko: We Have ZERO Interest in Walters

So in the wake of Nicholas Walters losing his WBA featherweight title on the scales last Saturday before facing Miguel Marriaga (who Walters out-pointed at the Theater of Madison Square Garden), is there any chance that the highly anticipated clash between he and WBO featherweight titlist, Vasyl Lomachenko, still takes place in the fall?

"For what?" scoffed Egis Klimas, the manager for Lomachenko.

You know what would've happened to Walters if he had said something like this had he been in Lomachenko's shoes? the guy would've been crucified by the fans and the critics, but with Lomachenko it's alright, cuz it's all white.

But tbh, what really is the point if it's not a unification? Especially a guy with only 4 or 5 fights under his belt.

If Lomachenko is only interested in title unifications, then he needs to move up to 130. WBC and WBA are Haymon property and won't be on HBO. IBF is now hostage to the UK and he won't be invited.

Walters is still the biggest fight out there for Lomachenko other than Rigo.

The point is fighting the other best guy in the division, the point is making a good ppv fight between 2 incredible fighters, this is more important than belts, the WBA that Walters had is now vacant, I'm sure the WBA would approve that Walters and Lomachenko fight in a WBO WBA unification bout, these are the best 2 fighters in the division.

Businesswise I think if Lomachenko doesn't wanna fight Walters now he should first unify the belts then move up and fight Walters later at 130, but from what this guy said in this interview it looks like they have no interest in fighting Walters at any weight cuz he'll always be bigger than Lomachenko.

Just imagine Floyd saying I'm not gonna fight Dela Hoya or Canelo cuz they're bigger than me, I bet u not Lomachenko will get away with this like it never happened, just like Kovalev got away with his racist pic, everything was alright, cuz it was all white.

... For the time being I don't follow Loma too much... But, anyway, Walters gave up his title on the scales -- which should mean that he really wants to move up, right?
