Comments Thread For: Lemieux "Would Love" To Fight Gennady Golovkin Next

Middleweight contender David Lemieux (33-2) is in the final stages of his training camp for his June 20th showdown against Hassan N'Dam (31-1). The fight is for the vacant IBF title and will take place at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec and will be televised on pay-per-view in Canada and FoxSports2/Fox Deportes in the United States.

The 26-year-old Lemieux is fully focused on the task at hand but has big plans for the future. He said that he wants to unify titles and has no problems facing the other champions including the division's boogeyman, WBA/IBO/WBC interim champion Gennady Golovkin.

That would be a great fight for September. By then Cotto should be stripped of the WBC title and it will be around GGG's waist and this fight could be for three of the four major titles. I would expect it to be held in the US but who knows...if it happened here in Montreal I could even get to watch Golovkin in person for the first time.

I don't think he even makes it past N'Dam...

It would be fun for the first 4 rounds until lemieux's chin gives out. Before the fight we'd get about 100 threads about GGG not being able to fight backwards/having bad defence/never being in the with a hard hitting fighter. After the fight lemieux would just be a bum who'd already been stopped by rubio, and how GGG would get exposed against fighter xyz.

Why would he risk Canelo getting his lights put out by a MW? Lemieux is no master boxer, but he has genuine KO power.

Well he could probably make off fighting whoever he wanted.... but other than Glolovkin and Cotto, only way he's getting a title... unless BJS backs down again

I think they've said they're staying at Junior Middleweight (or Canelo-weight), Alvarez doesn't seem that bothered about belts.

this would be a big ratings fight for sure, for a title and two exciting fighters(though one is clearly better).

                    would love to see it
