Comments Thread For: Ward's Trainer: Froch Likely Too Big/Strong For Golovkin

Virgil Hunter, trainer of WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward, says 168-pound contender Carl Froch (33-2, 24KOs) is likely going to be too big and strong for WBA/IBO middleweight king Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (33-0, 30KOs).

For the last few weeks, a lot of noise has been made with respect to a potential Froch vs. Golovkin showdown in the UK.

Froch has been inactive since last May's knockout victory over George Groves before 80,000 fans in Wembley Stadium.

Yeah let's see Froch fight him at the middleweight limit then we'll see who's stronger. You're fighter too.

Hunter making valid point. Any middleweight moving up 8lbs and on fight night facing spr Mdl champ almost 20 lbs hvyr faces risk of fighting a bigger stronger taller thicker guy. What's confusing why should Froch career spr Mdl move dwn

Let's see them fight at any weight (just to get Froch in the ring with GGG), and we'll see who is stronger, hits harder, is the better boxer, and has the better chin. I'll take GGG - under any circumstances short of his suffering a serious injury or extreme illness (weight-class, gloves permitted (Carl can use 6 ounces of his choice, and GGG must use 12 ouncers of Carl's choice), fight location (Nottingham is fine - in fact, invite the sheriff), and Froch can even have Terry O'Connor to help him back to his stool). Still GGG will pulverize Froch - it is only a matter of what round that GGG K.O.s Carl.
