Comments Thread For: CompuBox: Amir Khan Landed 46% of His Power Shots

Amir Khan's sharper punching (landed 46% of his power punches) was the difference. Chris Algieri moved forward all fight (throwing 97 more punches than Khan) and landed flush several times, but never managed to dent Khan's suspect chin.

New York - Britain's Amir Khan took a unanimous decision victory over American Chris Algieri in a welterweight matchup, then called out unbeaten Floyd Mayweather for a world title showdown.

What are we pretending Khan has an iron chin now?

"Amir Khan wants Floyd Mayweather!" give it up ya bum!

Algieri hit Khan with the harder punches, made Khan look tentative, made Khan's vaunted hand speed appear not to be all that fast, and chased Khan throughout the fight. The punch count given in this article does not reflect the fact that Algieri was the aggressor - which few if any had expected, does not reflect the fact that Algieri hurt Khan more than Khan hurt him, and neither does the punch count reflect the amount of holding which Khan found necessary to employ to survive attack after attack which Algieri mounted throughout the fight. Yes, the judges gave the fight to Khan, and the emphasis must be placed on -gave- as Khan certainly did not earn the victory which he now proclaims.

          And we care why?

Amir still looked average and DOES NOT DESERVE a Mayweather Jr fight.

Im so sick of the Media shoving this guy down our throats, there's definitely an effort to keep this guy relevant.

I don't even think he deserves a shot at Brook to be honest.

Amir Con is a fraud, he needs to go be a politician, that would suit him better.

Get real. The fact that two judges had scored it 117-111 is clear proof that short of a K.O. there was nothing that Algieri could have done which would have won him the fight. The fix was in. It was at best a 115-113 victory for Khan, and this fight clearly demonstrated that Khan isn't the fighter who would be capable of challenging Floyd Mayweather. Rather, this fight demonstrated that Amir Khan isn't capable of adjusting to his opponent in the ring, and unless he is fighting a stooge more limited than he himself, that he is quite the ordinary fighter. Perhaps if Khan had more power in his punches, perhaps if Khan had a solid chin, perhaps if Khan's idea of defense wasn't to hold and headlock his opponent, and perhaps if Khan's ring performance could even begin to approach the bravado, hype, and blowhard trash talking which Khan delivers continuously outside the ring, whether or not anybody is listening or anybody cares to hear him, then Khan might be an opponent worthy of consideration by Floyd; however, that is not the case. Khan is exactly what his name describes; he is an oleaginous con artist who works the media relentlessly to brainwash those who cannot see and think for themselves, and can easily be summed up by the phrase, "There's a sucker born every minute."

I had it a draw. There was one swing round that I gave to Khan, so I'm not upset with anyone saying Algieri won. The rounds in which Khan outlanded him by a couple of punches were easily outshined by the fact that every right hand Algieri landed made him buckle and back up for at least 30 seconds. Plus I don't think he got enough credit for his body punches.

One thing I will give Khan credit for is that late in the fight, he realized that he's better on the inside than he originally thought he was. And I think having a referee that didn't allow him to push off as much as he did against Collazo kind of forced that. He's a big, strong guy. He shouldn't be letting these guys bully him around like that.

my guess is khans a bad investment on his handlers part and theyre trying to cut and surpass losses. Thats why he can fight that level of opposition and still warrant a Floyd shot? Just look at his recent bouts and how much the medias blowing them up. Somethings up.
