Comments Thread For: Floyd Mayweather Cements His Position as All-Time Great

By Jake Donovan - The Event of the Century didn’t produce much of a fight, but further confirmed Floyd Mayweather’s presence as an all-time great. The unbeaten welterweight king delivered a virtuoso performance in scoring a decision over Manny Pacquiao in their long awaited pound-for-pound showdown Saturday evening at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Scores were 118-110 and 116-112 (twice) in a bout that – objectively speaking – played out as most suspected, even if fans optimistically hoped for something more.

Mayweather landed the first significant punch of the fight, a right hand that momentarily forced Pacquiao backwards. The right hand was the story of the round. Mayweather was more aggressive than in past starts, while Pacquiao struggled to find any openings, as evidenced in his landing just three punches on the round.

Pacquiao pulled the crowd into the fight after landing a straight left hand to Mayweather’s chest early in round two. Mayweather responded with body shots while the two were tied up, prompting the pro-Pacquiao crowd to boo the unbeaten superstar. A double jab and left hand caught Mayweather midway through the round, drawing chants of “Manny! Manny!” throughout the sold-out arena. [Click Here To Read More]

Unfortunately for you, people that matter consider him an ATG and first ballot Hall of famer.

He's not an ATG. Simple as that.

I thought this fight would make peace but it only made things worse.

Safest fighter of our time. Also single handed cleaned up the sport. Legendary.

It must hurt to see that Pacquiao is that inferior in the ring next to Mayweather.

Good Fight But not a Great one by any means.

It was an Okay fight, what I saw...

Mayweather landing head punches in the beginning, made Pacquiao think a little more.

                    Mayweather fought his fight.

Manny did not move enough to fight his fight.

Mayweather dominated with points never hurt Pacquiao once.

Manny clearly hurt Mayweather twice, perhaps up to four times.

Pacquiao perhaps because of hurting Mayweather that he won.

Mayweather will go down as an all time good fighter. But no TBE by any means, why.

This fight should have taken place 5 years ago.

Real champs dont retire to avoid new comers when they are on a streak.

Does not matter how you slice it or cut it. Mayweather left and retired and then came back. He clearly avoided fighters. STRAIGHT UP!!!

He will be known as a great defensive fighter but too much of a runner. All my children for ever and ever will know him as a woman beater and the biggest dodger of all time.

                    Sad but true..

Manny is and will always be known as the best fighter of my era. Why..

                    Never ducked anyone

                    Goes Toe to Toe

                    Never runs..

                    Amen!!!!
